Colette is a Registered General Nurse (1984) and registered as a Specialist Practitioner in Neuronursing with the NMC.

Once qualifying, Colette moved to  The National Queen Square London. (1984 – 1986) to embark her career in Neuronursing.

Having completed a post basic training in Neuro Nursing (1986), Colette moved onto The Royal Hospital for Neuro disability as a Sister on their Rehabilitation ward. In 1989 Colette opened a 20 bedded unit for PVS (minimally conscience) clients, the first of its kind in the country. The unit was the first to introduce practices such as PEG Feeding and long term Tracheostomy maintenance and care for patients straight out of ICU. Whilst At Putney there Colette went on to developed and managed the Huntington Disease unit for 3 years before moving to Highbank (Bury, Lancs) as the Clinical Services Manager overseeing Rehabilitation, long term care and transitional living for adults with neurological deficits and the children’s service in Rehabilitation and ventilator  services.

Since then Colette has worked in various Regional manager and care Home manager roles including Kings Lodge Centre for complex needs in Surrey where she worked with the group partners to reopen the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital This is a  specialist spinal injury unit and Colette was able to reengage  the Consultants from Stoke Mandeville, working closely with them to  build up a client group  from both the UK and overseas, mainly UAE and Egypt .

Clinical skills: PEG Feeding and nutritional support, Continence care including all types of catheter and stoma care , Tracheostomy care and maintenance, Non Invasive ventilation, Wound management, Pressure area care and positional management, End of Life / Syringe Driver, medication management, diabetes care, Parkinson care including Apo pumps, Autonomic Dysreflexia and many other nursing care needs associated with complex care.

Colette has continued managing and running a number of large homes for the elderly and complex needs as a registered manager responsible for all regulated activities working alongside numerous CHC’s, Social services and Interdisciplinary teams. Colette is well versed in the Decision Tool support document and negotiating fees for care.

Colette has run large staff teams throughout her career and aware of recruitment and retention issues and employment law relation to this.

Now Colette is bringing these skills to Rehabilitation for Independence as a Case Manager where she hopes to utilise all this knowledge and experience to clients and their families.
