Penny is an Occupational Therapist and has been practicing since she qualified in 2015.

Penny’s work for Rehabilitation for Independence includes carrying out sensory assessments for children.

Previously Penny has worked at ‘OT for Kids’ as a school-based therapist, here she was involved with setting up the school-based therapy services. This Involved assessing children in the school setting and setting up occupational therapy groups.

Penny has also worked for Hertfordshire Partnership Trust on a rotation with older adults with dementia. Penny worked as part of the team to deliver therapeutic activities including gardening, baking and sensory storytelling among other personalised interventions to support the service users engage in meaningful activities to stimulate them and improve well-being. As part of the assessment team she carried out full occupational therapy assessments in order to recommend the best place of discharge and care plan. Penny carried out feeding, personal care and home assessments and liaised effectively with families.

Penny has volunteered abroad in a school called Aleh with children and young adults with severe disabilities. Here she used eye gaze communication technology, prepared and carried out individual occupational therapy sessions with individuals creating her own way of recording progress and being self-directive.

Penny has previously worked for Nitza (an organisation for mothers with postpartum depression and their babies) in an attachment group, advising and working on child development and maternal health.

Penny has experience of working as part of a paediatric community placement, here she worked with children with sensory integration issues, DCD, Autism and cerebral palsy. Penny has also held a position of nursery room leader in an integrated nursery of typically developing children and children with additional needs.

Penny has worked within adult learning disability and dementia services: this development in role placement was a non-traditional occupational therapy setting where she worked together with another student to create an occupational therapy role within the day centre. Penny created a way of keeping notes, she carried out a variety of assessments and planned and ran groups to engage service users.

Penny is self-motivated, proactive and creative team player. Penny has experience of occupational therapy models and assessments, both standardised and non-standardised.

Penny has valuable clinical experience in physical and mental health settings; including children and older adults.
